Who Can Challenge Humphries?

There have been two late withdrawals from Czech Darts Open, with Gary Anderson and Michael Smith deciding against travelling to Europe. Although a considerable loss, they might have a point, seeing how it is tough to attend four back-to-back events.

As a result, the seedings have been changed, with the defending champion, Luke Humphries, taking the no.1 seed.

Luke Humphries travels to Prague in excellent form. He finished runner-up last week when he lost to Michael van Geveren (6-8) in the European Tour 7 and has won eight of his last ten outings. But still, he enters the 2023 Czech Darts Open as a 15.00 outsider, tied with Josh Rock, Rob Cross, and Peter Wright as the fourth-most likely player to hoist the trophy.

The second seed, Dave Chisnall, is priced at 12.00 to win the tournament, which makes sense, seeing how he has won the first and sixth European Tour this season and is 6-4 from his last ten outings. More importantly, he is 14-1 on the Euro Tour and has won three of the last nine Euro Tour events he attended.

The current favourite to win, Michael van Gerwen (3.75), won his first Euro Tour tournament last weekend, upping his win rate to 71% on the year. Although an impressive record, Gerwen still has a lot to prove, and the Czech Darts Open is the perfect opportunity for him to do so.

The second favourite to come out ahead, Jonny Clayton, is the 12th seed but shouldnโ€™t be overlooked. The European Tour 5 winner has shown excellent form and played well last weekend. However, he got eliminated by Dirk van Duijvenbode in the quarterfinals, which is concerning knowing that van Duijvenbode was injured, explaining why Clayton is priced as high as 10.00 to win in Prague.

Other notable attendees include Jose de Sousa (81.00), who placed second in PC10 and is in solid form with eight wins from his last ten games. Unfortunately, he has not impressed last week and needs to show a bit more before we start talking about a potential title run.

2023 Czech Darts Open Betting Predictions

Luke Humphries might be priced at 15.00 to win the tournament, but he is in excellent form and leads the first quarter, where heโ€™s joined by Wright, Noppert, and the struggling Van de Bergh.

It remains to be seen how heโ€™ll do in the second round and beyond, but Humphries has shown enough to believe he can reach deep into the tournament and potentially defend his throne.

  • Prediction: Luke Humphries to win (15.00) E/W

Another player worth keeping an eye on is Dave Chinsall, who has looked good on the Euro Tour recently. He already has two titles in 2023 and has an easy road on his side of the draw. Barring any surprises, he should reach the semifinals and beyond that, itโ€™s anyoneโ€™s game.

  • Prediction: Dave Chisnall to win (12.00) E/W
