Long Overdue Fight
Initially, Paul was scheduled to fight Fury on December 18, 2021, but the bout got postponed after the latter suffered an injury and was replaced by Tyron Woodley. The rematch was then scheduled for August 6, 2022, but Fury again pulled out of the bout due to travel issues.
In July, it was announced that Hasim Rahman Jr. would replace Fury in the fight, but the bout got cancelled due to problems with the weight-in, as Rahman Jr. came in overweight.
Now, after two postponements and 14 months later, Paul and Fury are finally set to face off in the ring. However, while anyone would consider Fury as the clear favourite to win the fight in 2021, the outright betting odds on this bout suggest that it’s the YouTube star, Jake Paul, who should come out on top.
Priced at 1.80 (at bet365), Jake Paul heads into the upcoming bout as the favourite ahead of Tommy Fury (2.10 at bet365). However, it’s important to note that the odds have been shifting significantly in the days leading up to the fight. Jake Paul opened as a 1.60 favourite but has seen his price drop by quite a bit.
With a 6-0 record, Jake Paul has already proven his talent in the ring, but many experts would argue that he has yet to be properly tested in the ring. Admittedly, he had beaten Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley, and the UFC legend Anderson Silva, but all three have one thing in common – they are all at least 12 years older than Paul.
His next opponent, Fury, while known mostly for his stint on Love Island, is a professional boxer with an 8-0 record, and is undeniably the toughest opponent Paul has ever faced in his boxing career.

Can Paul Finally Prove The World Wrong?
It’s easy to hate on Paul due to his online persona, and many had been burnt for doubting him in his previous bouts, so perhaps it’s not fair to ignore his chances of winning completely.
Admittedly, he has only faced veteran fighters so far (in addition to two YouTubers and a basketball player), but on the other side, Fury is not where he is because he has shown a high level of boxing in the right as much as for his recognition from reality TV.
It’s easy to find reasons to doubt either of the two fighters. Paul has beaten retired, washed-up fighters, while Fury has yet to show a fraction of what his brother has over his boxing career.
So even though this is a proper bout and likely one of the most anticipated boxing affairs of the year, we’re not exactly looking at two elite-level boxers, but more of two known faces who know how to get the audience going and tune in to watch them brawl.
