League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) 2023 Summer enters the final round of Week 5 on Sunday, July 9, with two games between KT Rolster and OKSavingsBank BRION and Kwangdong Freecs and Hanwha Life Esports.
The first match looks fairly straightforward, but things could get interesting in the second game of the day.
KT Rolster vs OKSavingsBank BRION Betting Preview
When: Sunday, July 9, 15:00 KST
KT Rolster are 8-1 ahead of the final match of LCK 2023 Summer Week 6 and currently sit in second place in the league’s standings. This isn’t too shocking since this is a very good team and potential underdogs to win the LCK crown.
For KT Rolster to achieve that, they’ll have to find a way to get past Gen.G, which won’t come easy, but compared to any other team in the league, KT Rolster are a class above. They’re also ranked as the best team in the league in gold difference at 10, 15, and 20 minutes and hold the highest gold/minute, which is seriously impressive.
And even in other performance stats, KT Rolster rank top-three. This is a quality team.
The same can’t be said for OKSavingsBank BRION who are one of the bottom feeders in the LCK 2023 Summer. And even though OKSavingsBank BRION are known for causing upsets against significantly better teams, it’s hard to find a good reason to back them in this series.
KT and OKSavingsBank BRION already met on Friday when KT Rolster won convincingly. With all due respect, it’s hard to justify saying that OKSavingsBank BRION will look any better two days later. At the offered esports betting odds, this is a pass.

Kwangdong Freecs vs Hanwha Life Esports Betting Preview
When: Sunday, July 9, 17:30 KST
Hanwha Life Esports are 5-4, which is a solid spot to be in, but this is not a very good team. For whatever reason, HLE continues to be overrated even though their performances on the Rift leave a lot to be deserted.
The main issue I have with HLE is their one-dimensional playstyle, which, admittedly, is good enough for HLE to smash lesser teams. But as we’ve seen, this leads to nothing but disappointment when faced with any half-decent squad.
Over their last five games, Hanwha Life Esports won against Liiv SANDBOX (2-1), OKSavingsBank BRION (2-0), and Nongshim RedForce (2-0), but lost against Dplus KIA (0-2) and Gen.G (0-2) badly. This record only proves the point – Hanwha Life Esports will do well against weak teams but stand no chance of beating LCK’s top squads.
So what does that mean for this match?
Kwangdong Freecs are 4-5, so just barely below Hanwha Life Esports, and their record looks very similar. KDF have solid wins against weaker teams but terrible losses against top squads. Over their last five games in LCK 2023 Summer, Kwangdong Freecs have lost against T1 (0-2), KT Rolster (0-2), and Dplus KIA (0-2) but won against Liiv SANDBOX (2-0) and Nongshim RedForce (2-0).
But unlike Hanwha Life Esports, Kwangdong Freecs have looked like a good team – just not against the top dogs. They don’t have a single win against any of the top teams but no defeats against anyone else. So does that mean that Kwangdog Freecs are comparable to or better than HLE?
Since HLE defeated KFD earlier in the LCK 2023 Summer regular season, it’s tough to say that Kwangdong Freecs are better, but based on the teams’ recent showings, they’re not much worse.
At the offered LCK 2023 Summer betting odds, Kwangdong Freecs are a good choice. Hanwha Life Esports might’ve won their last meeting, but by this point, they’ve been figured out by all top teams, and there’s a good chance Kwangdong Freecs have something ready to shut down HLE, who lack the creativity to surprise their opponents.
