The first round of League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) 2023 Summer Week 6 serves us with two interesting matches in Liiv SANDBOX vs Dplus KIA and Gen.G vs Nongshim RedForce, as two of the league’s top teams take on squads still fighting for their spot in the upper part of the table.
But as one-sided as those games might seem, we’ve seen enough upsets in LCK to believe that there is a chance an underdog might surprise.
Liiv SANDBOX vs Dplus KIA Betting Preview
When: Wednesday, July 12, 17:00 KST
Dplus KIA are slowly coming into their own, with three wins from their last four outings against DRX (2-0), Kwangdong Freecs (2-0), and Hanwha Life Esports (2-0). But they’ve also recently lost against KT Rolster (0-2), Gen.G (1-2), and T1 (0-2).
Results like that prove one thing – Dplus KIA are very efficient in dealing with lesser teams but struggle when faced with LCK’s top dogs. This, however, might only be a temporary thing. Dplus KIA have a solid roster and are playing much better than their record suggests.
Performance stats-wise, Dplus KIA are a top-four team in the LCK 2023 Summer and with the improvement they’ve been showing, it isn’t too crazy to believe that Dplus KIA might actually achieve something in the playoffs. But before we get too ahead of ourselves, it’s time to ask how Dplus KIA will do against Liiv SANDBOX.
Liiv SANDBOX were a competitive team last split, but in LCK 2023 Summer, they’ve not accomplished much. With a 2-8 record, Liiv SANDBOX are one of the worst-performing squads in the league and in serious danger of finishing the split inside the bottom four.
Admittedly, Liiv SANDBOX have a higher ceiling than some other LCK 2023 Summer bottom feeders, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re a class below all mid-table teams, including Dplus KIA.
Dplus KIA can be a bit two-faced. They’ll look like they are gaining traction and produce a stinker the next day, but while this has been a characteristic of this team throughout the entire split, Dplus KIA now actually look like they got things figured out.
As much as I wouldn’t mind betting against Dplus KIA knowing how hit-or-miss they can be, Liiv SANDBOX’s performances in LCK 2023 Summer and in their most recent games don’t inspire much confidence. Dplus KIA should get it done in two maps.

Gen.G vs Nongshim RedForce Betting Preview
When: Wednesday, July 12, 19:30 KST
Gen.G are 10-0 ahead of LCK 2023 Summer Week 6 and look the best they’ve had this whole season. Not only have Gen.G defeated every single team that stood in their path over the first five weeks, but they’ve lost just three maps (20-3) against KT Rolster (2-1) and T1 (2-1) in Week 1 and Dplus KIA (2-1) in Week 3.
Since then, Gen.G have swept OKSavingsBank BRION, Hanwha Life Esports, Liiv SANDBOX, and T1. Beating OKSavingsBank BRION, Hanwha Life Esports, Liiv SANDBOX isn’t too impressive as those are not very strong teams, but that’s a bad excuse as there aren’t many teams left in the league that can challenge Gen.G.
Nongshim RedForce sit at the opposite side of the LCK 2023 Summer table with a 2-8 record and 6-17 map differential. They won their second game of the split on Saturday when RedForce swept Liiv SANDBOX, and a week prior, they stole a map from T1 (1-2), which is a good sign, but nothing to feel overly excited about.
Gen.G are priced as 10.00 favourites for this match, and as much as the offered esports betting odds might make sense, this is still a high price. Gen.G look incredible, but they’re due to a stinker, and it wouldn’t be the craziest thing if it happens against a bottom-table team.
Esports bookmakers have set the kill line at 11.5, which is absurdly high. Gen.G have been efficient in beating lesser teams, but to cover 11.5 kills, they will need to stomp Nongshim RedForce.
- Prediction: Nongshim RedForce +11.5 maps (both maps) – 1.90 at bet365
