LCS 2024 Spring Betting Preview: Cloud9 Expected To Dominate

League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) 2024 Spring is set to kick off on Saturday, January 20, with the first round of LCS 2024 Spring. This year will look different than the 2023 season, with just eight teams competing in the North American LoL league following the exodus of Golden Guardians and Evil Geniuses.

While the LCS is as small as it was in 2014, the league will continue with the same format it had in 2023, with fewer games played throughout the regular season and just two teams missing the LCS 2024 Spring Playoffs.

LCS 2024 Spring Format & Schedule

Despite featuring just eight LoL esports teams (instead of ten), the Spring format hasn’t changed. The regular season will have a double round-robin format with all games played as best-of-one (Bo1).

The top six teams by the end of the LCS 2024 Spring split, on March 10, will advance to the playoffs where they’ll fight for the LCS trophy and invites to the Mid-Season Invitational.

Where to Watch:

Shopify Rebellion Enter LCS

Following the exodus of TSM from the LCS, the league found a replacement team to fill in the gap – Shopify Rebellion. The Canadian esports organisation not only took over the spot held by TSM but also signed most of the former TSM players and added a couple of new faces to strengthen the lineup.

Although a competitive roster – and possibly a bit underrated – Shopify Rebellion aren’t expected to compete for the LCS title in their debut year. That mainly has to do with the fact that there are much stronger teams in the league that should make it harder for Shopify Rebellion to fly high.

This isn’t a group of superstars, but TSM showed last season that they were capable of beating stronger teams, and we know that Shopify Rebellion have a good coach. This, combined with continuity, could make the newcomers an interesting team to follow.

Yet the question remains – who will win the LCS?

LCS 2024 Spring Betting Odds Comparison

The LCS 2024 Spring outright betting odds paint a clear picture – Cloud9 are by far the best team in the league, followed by NRG, Team Liquid, and FlyQuest as live outsiders, and the rest. This is hardly surprising as it’s hard to deny Cloud9’s quality.

Are Cloud9 The Best Team In LCS?

The market is again bullish on Cloud9 who enter LCS 2024 Spring as the main favourites to claim the trophy. This makes a lot of sense since Cloud9 were the best NA LoL esports team in 2023, and they further improved their roster with the signing of Joseph Joon “jojopyun” Pyun.

From a viewer’s perspective, Cloud9 are the team to watch, but from a betting perspective, Cloud9 are not an appealing option. The offered price looks fair.

FlyQuest are another team worth keeping an eye on. Comprised of younger players and veteran names, FlyQuest have the potential to do extremely well and possibly challenge Cloud9 for the LCS title.

However, while they look good on paper, this is a completely new team, with new players and coaching staff, so we can them to have a slow start – much like Karmine Corp in the LEC.

Underdogs To Watch Out For

Of the dark horses, Team Liquid look like an interesting choice. priced at 7.00, Liquid have the talent to do well in the 2024 season, having kept the core of APA, CoreJJ, and Yeon from 2023. They filled the other gaps with Impact – who is still a great player – and added UmTi as a jungle.

The signing of UmTi is a big deal. The former LCK player has proven to be very talented and is known to be a carry jungler. Yes, he doesn’t have excellent results on his resume, but he was stuck with bad teams, which can help him have a greater impact with Liquid.

One concern with Liquid is that they had a good roster in 2023, yet things didn’t work out. It’s also fair to feel pessimistic about APA and whether he can develop further. Still, if APA can keep playing at a high level and if UmTi is given the tools to carry this team, Liquid could do extremely well.

Another team worth keeping an eye on is 100 Thieves. As a new roster comprised of younger talent, 100 Thieves have a very high upside but also a low floor, making them a team that will either exceed everyone’s expectations or crash and burn.

They decided to blow up their veteran roster in favour of young and hungry players – who are also extremely talented. Betting on this team is believing that 100T will develop quickly enough to challenge the top teams. It’s more of a speculative bet, but at 13.00, they’re worth a shot.
