LCS Spring 2024 Week 1 Preview – Day 1 Betting Picks

The League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) 2024 season kicks off on Saturday, January 20, 2024, with the first round of the LCS 2024 Spring. This season, the league will feature just eight teams, which means fewer games throughout the regular season, but there are still some LoL betting opportunities to take a look at.

Team Liquid vs 100 Thieves Betting Pick

When: Saturday, January 20, 12:00 PST

100 Thieves rebuilt their LoL lineup, adding younger talent to form what seems like a development project. This isn’t a bad call as 100T with this roster have a lot of upside and if they develop nicely, 100T might do extremely well by the end of the LCS season.

Team Liquid are a much more stacked roster, which shows in the offered betting odds. And it’s very hard to argue with the fact that Liquid are simply a better team. This mainly has to do with the fact that 100T field unproven players.

Across the board, 100T are weaker than Team Liquid, which should lead to only one conclusion. Early into the year, there is room for doubt, so I wouldn’t hold it against anyone who wants to take a shot with 100T.

  • Prediction: None

NRG vs Cloud9 Betting Pick

When: Saturday, January 20, 13:00 PST

NRG might’ve done well in 2023, but they overperformed which explains why they enter LCS 2024 Spring overrated. On the other side, we have Cloud9, who were by far the best team in the league, and they’re bound to be even better with an upgraded mid laner.

Admittedly, NRG will have a strong synergy, having made no roster moves ahead of the 2024 season – which counts early into the split. However, Cloud9 also kept their core intact, so it’s not like they will need a lot of time to gel.

As much as I don’t like kill handicaps so early, Cloud9 are a couple of tiers above NRG.

  • Prediction: Cloud9 -5.5 kills – 1.93 at Unibet, 1 unit

FlyQuest vs Shopify Rebellion Betting Pick

When: Saturday, January 20, 14:00 PST

Shopify Rebellion field a roster which consist of mostly former TSM players, whereas FlyQuest completely rebuilt their lineup following a disappointing season. FlyQuest took a different approach with their lineup for LCS 2024 Spring, and in my book, they’ve made several improvements.

FlyQuest are in a good spot to achieve a lot in this split if things work out, and they’re likely going to finish the split higher than Shopify Rebellion. However, even though FlyQuest has a high ceiling, Shopify Rebellion enter the first week of LCS 2024 Spring with pre-established synergy and a roster that was very underrated in 2023.

I like my chances with the underdogs at 3.00 with bet365.

  • Prediction: Shopify Rebellion to win – 3.00 at bet365, 2.68 at Pinnacle, 1 unit

Immortals vs Dignitas Betting Pick

When: Saturday, January 20, 14:00 PST

Immortals and Dignitas are two teams that are thought to rank. Both have made several roster changes, which could work nicely or lead to a complete collapse.

Dignitas replaced older players in favour of younger talent, which is fine, granted Santorin and Jensen were completely fine and could’ve stayed with the team. Still, there is some potential in this team – the only concern is that Dignitas field just a couple of players who can realistically compete against other elite LCS talent in their respective roles.

Immortals are an interesting project, consisting of players that have something to prove. Neither is in his prime and I wouldn’t call Immortals proper LCS title contenders. However, Armao was solid last season, and Tactical is arguably one of the top ADC players in the league.

This seems like a 50/50 match.

  • Prediction: Immortals to win – 2.10 at bet365, 1 unit
