LCS Spring 2024 Week 5 Preview – Day 2 Betting Picks

League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) 2024 Spring continues with the second round of Week 5 on Sunday, March 3, with the final four fixtures before the superweek.

So far no team has secured a spot in the playoffs yet, but there’s quite a gap of four wins separating the top and bottom team. Still, even now, it’s tough to call which six teams will advance to the knockout stage and which two will end the split early.

NRG vs Immortals Betting Pick

When: Sunday, March 3, 13:00 PST

Immortals lost against Shopify Rebellion on Saturday, whereas NRG edged past Team Liquid. It wasn’t a particularly clean game from NRG, who I still consider to be a bit overrated based on what they’ve shown so far this split.

It’s not wrong to say that NRG are better than Immortals, especially considering how many times IMT just collapsed in their games. But they’ve also had a few good showings in the LCS 2024 Spring. So, while Immortals are weaker, they’re not as weak as the LoL esports betting odds might suggest.

I don’t like NRG as much as the market, so I’m taking a smaller position on Immortals to come out on top. They have the tools to do well, and we’ve seen NRG produce a few stinkers this split. At 3.00, Immortals are a bit underrated.

FlyQuest vs 100 Thieves Betting Pick

When: Sunday, March 3, 14:00 PST

Priced at 1.61 (bet365), FlyQuest are expected to defeat 100 Thieves, which sounds fair, despite getting stomped by Cloud9 in the opening round of LCS 2024 Spring Week 5. However, we have to consider that this is only the second match after the break, and as noted before, underdogs tend to do better in such positions.

100 Thieves also played a great game on Saturday when they beat Dignitas, so there is hope they can do some damage here. Realistically, FlyQuest are a better team with better players, but 100 Thieves is a young roster with a lot of upside, so you have to consider backing them.

At 2.20 (bet365), 100 Thieves aren’t the most appealing option though. FlyQuest didn’t look great on Saturday, but they also had to play the best team in the LCS, so we can give them some slack and not overreact to what was a complete stomp.

Both teams like to fight, especially 100 Thieves, who average 16.6 kills and 14.7 deaths per game this split, so some might be interested in taking overs. However, so early after the break, this looks more like a 100T or pass.

Dignitas vs Shopify Rebellion Betting Pick

When: Sunday, March 3, 15:00 PST

Dignitas are fresh off a loss against 100 Thieves, who played one of their best games of the LCS 2024 Spring. That game didn’t prove much, and it definitely didn’t answer whether Dignitas are any good.

They’re 4-6 with wins against Immortals, NRG, and Shopify Rebellion, which aren’t exactly the best teams in the LCS, and they’ve also had some solid showings against other squads. Overall, Dignitas look very mediocre, which, until proven otherwise, is the only right way to rank Dignitas.

Shopify Rebellion played a good game on Saturday and earned their victory against Immortals, but like with Dignitas, I don’t know where to put them. Shopify Rebellion have an excellent coach in Seong “Reven” Sang-hyeon, and this team is arguably better than many give them credit for.

This is a match between two teams that haven’t shown much yet, but I have more faith in Shopify Rebellion, who, as inconsistent as they can be, have a bigger upside.

Team Liquid vs Cloud9 Betting Pick

When: Sunday, March 3, 16:00 PST

After a rough stretch before the break, Cloud9 woke up and demolished FlyQuest. It the game, Cloud9 showed their true colours and looked like C9 we saw at the start of the LCS 2024 Spring. Whether they’ll manage to keep playing at this level remains to be seen, but we know what this team is capable of.

Cloud9 are significantly better than Team Liquid (and most other LCS teams), and based on their performance against FlyQuest, they’ve figured out their issues during the break.

Team Liquid are not a bottom-tier team, but as mentioned before, they have many issues, which includes questionable mid-late game and weak mid lane. Liquid are actually defend in pre-20 minutes so there’s a world where they jump ahead in this series, but even then, you’d feel concerned about their ability to actually close out the game.

Cloud9 are the current best team in the LCS and it’s not even close.
