LoL Worlds 2023 Play-In stage enters the penultimate round on Saturday, October 14, with the final two pair of matches to determine which two teams will enter the qualification round and fight for a ticket leading into the Main Event.
This weekend, we’ll see LOUD take on GAM Esports in the Group A decider and CTBC Flying Oyster clashing with the rejuvenated Team BDS. Here are our LoL Worlds 2023 Play-In betting previews and predictions.
LOUD vs GAM Esports
When: Saturday, October 14, 9:00 CEST (16:00 KST)
LOUD and GAM Esports are set to clash for the second time in the LoL Worlds Play-In stage after they first met in the opening round of Group A. LOUD won the series 2-0; however, it was quite a chaotic match, which could’ve easily reached the third map.
In the first meeting, LOUD crushed GAM on the opening map but were a bit lucky to walk away from the second map of the series with a win. Perhaps a better way to say is that GAM Esports gave LOUD a free win.
Following a crushing loss on map 1, GAM found themselves in an excellent position to defeat LOUD and even held approximately 6,000 gold lead. Yet even with such a massive advantage, GAM Esports managed to shoot themselves in the foot.
LOUD lost their next series against PSG Talon (0-2), while GAM Esports bounced back with a 2-0 win against Movistar R7. GAM Esports were the better team on the day, but just like in their match against LOUD, they proved to be very sloppy, which suggests that the rematch won’t go their way.
That’s not to say that the Brazilians have looked incredible in the LoL Worlds 2023 Play-in, but compared to GAM Esports, they seem to be in a much better spot to walk away from this match with another win.
This is still a series between two inconsistent teams that will lose to themselves more often than because they’re worse than their opponents. So, I’m not counting out the possibility of a three-map series. However, at the offered esports betting odds, I like LOUD to win.

CTBC Flying Oyster vs Team BDS
When: Saturday, October 14, 12:00 CEST (19:00 KST)
CTBC Flying Oyster kicked off their LoL Worlds 2023 Play-In campaign with a commanding victory against DetonatioN FocusMe (2-0), but then kneeled in front of the surging Team Whales, who secured a spot in the LoL Worlds 2023 Play-In qualification matches with an impressive record.
Let’s remember that Team Whales are not a good team – possibly the weakest team in the LoL Words Play-In – which doesn’t look good for CTBC Flying Oyster. It’s tough to call a team bad after they have won two series, but their two wins came mostly because their opponents slipped, and that’s what happened on Thursday.
CTBC Flying Oyster won the first map convincingly but then messed around with their draft on the second map and tilted off in game three, giving Whales a free win. In some ways, CTBC Flying Oyster had the exact same experience against Team Whales as Team BDS. As is the case with Team BDS, CTBC Flying Oyster are not a bad team because they lost against Whales.
Team BDS bounced back following their humiliating loss against Team Whales with a complete stop of DetonatioN FocusMe (2-0), which should give them a morale boost heading into Saturday’s match. However, it remains to be seen whether Team BDS will actually win.
According to the LoL Worlds 2023 Play-in betting odds, Team BDS should win comfortably and as long as they don’t make the same mistakes they did against Team Whales, I can see them winning. But at 3.50, CTBC Flying Oyster are a bit underestimated.
The LEC is stronger than the PCS, but Team BDS were hardly the fourth-best team in the league, so it’s not like we evaluate teams’ strength here purely based on which region they hail from. This is Team BDS’ game to lose, but knowing this team, they’ll likely drop a map.
- Prediction: CTBC Flying Oyster +1.5 Maps – 1.763 at Pinnacle
