PGL Sets RMR Qualifiers Dates For Counter-Strike 2 Major

The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is slowly ending as we get closer to the long-awaited release of Counter-Strike 2. The newest title of the franchise promises to bring more modern technology to the world’s most popular first-person shooter, but likely not that many changes to the Counter-Strike esports ecosystem.

The Counter-Strike 2 competitive scene is expected to look the same or very similar to the current CS:GO esports landscape. Although there are no official confirmations whether that’ll be the case across the board, at least the first CS2 Major will have the same structure as previous CS:GO Majors – as confirmed by PGL, who revealed the official schedule for the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024.

PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 RMR Starts In January

On Wednesday, June 28, the prominent tournament organiser, PGL, announced the official dates for the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 RMR Qualifiers, which will take place in January 2024. The Regional Major Ranking (RMR) qualifiers will start with an open stage across eight regions, where Counter-Strike teams will compete for a spot in the closed qualifiers.

The closed qualifiers will then feed into three RMRs, across Asia, America, and Europe and serve as the primary qualifiers for the CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024.

The upcoming CS2 Major will be the first Major Championship in Counter-Strike 2, the franchise’s latest iteration. The game is scheduled to release in the summer of 2023; however, Valve has yet to reveal a concrete release date thus far.

However, while the game developers are reluctant to confirm the official release date, the recently revealed dates for the RMR qualifiers suggest that Counter-Strike 2 will release well before 2024 – assuming the scheduling takes into account that the teams need time to practice the newest version of the game before the official competition.
