Team BDS vs Gen.G Mobil1 Racing Betting Preview

When: Thursday, July 6, 11:00 EDT

Team BDS are priced as underdogs for their opening match of RLCS 2022/23 Spring Split Major against Gen.G Mobil1 Racing, which makes sense if we consider how good Gen.G used to be. But they’ve fallen off hard lately, so it’s fair to doubt their chances to succeed in Boston.

Gen.G placed second at Spring Open in May but have since not achieved much, with a ninth-12th place finish at Spring Cup, and were fifth-sixth at Spring Invitational. Team BDS haven’t won a split either this season, but they placed third in Spring Open and Spring Cup and finished the EU Spring Invitational in second place.

Those results are far more impressive than what Gen.G have produced, especially since Team BDS hail from a stronger region. Gen.G are stil the same team that looked unstoppable at the end of 2022, and they have produced decent tournament runs early into 2023, so there is a chance they will bounce back. But it’s really hard to work off a belief that Gen.G are strong because until they start showing something, all they have is the potential to be great.

Esports betting odds show Team BDS as 2.04 underdogs, which doesn’t sound right, purely because Gen.G are in terrible form. Moreover, the two teams are equal talent-wise, so there is no reason not to take Team BDS to defeat Gen.G in the opening round of the RLCS 2022/23 Spring Split Major.

OpTic Gaming vs Ninjas in Pyjamas Betting Preview

When: Wednesday, July 5, 11:00 EDT

OpTic Gaming are coming off a very strong performance at Spring Invitational, in which they finished in third place after a close 3-4 defeat against Spacestation Gaming. It marked their second bronze medal of the split (after Spring Open), and even though OpTic haven’t won a single event this season, they look to be in great shape.

That’s not to say that OpTic have a realistic chance to make a deep run at RLCS 2022/23 Spring Split Major, but they’ve been blessed with a fairly easy draw up to the upper bracket semifinals, assuming FURIA don’t pop off in Boston.

OpTic Gaming’s next opponents, Ninjas in Pyjamas, are one of the top teams from South America, and their results speak for themselves. After a rough start to the split, NiP placed fourth in Spring Open, won Spring Cup, and made the finals of the Spring Invitational, where they narrowly lost to KRU Esports (3-4).

Those are all excellent results, but we must also weigh in the region’s strength so their results become less impressive in the greater picture. We saw lesser teams do well on LAN before, most notably KRU Esports, who placed top eight at the last Major, but those miracle runs aren’t very indicative of what to expect here.

OpTic aren’t one of the candidates to win the RLCS 2023/23 Spring Split Major, but they’re a level above Ninjas in Pyjamas, who might struggle to accomplish much in Boston. If João “Motta” Vitor Motta proves he can deliver on LAN, then it’s another story, but that’s a big “what if”.

  • Prediction: OpTic Gaming -1.5 maps – 2.20 at Pinnacle
