Organised by a popular energy drink company, the Red Bull Wololo has, since its inception, become one of the biggest and most prestigious Age of Empires esports tournament series, hosted annually in several venues.

The series started with the first Red Bull Wololo, hosted on April 30-May 3, 2020, as an online tournament and the first major tournament in the new game mode introduced in AoE II Definitive Edition, Empire Wars.

Since then, Red Bull has hosted seven more events, including tournaments on Age of Empires I and Age of Empires IV, in 2022.

When Was The Last Red Bull Wololo?

Red Bull hosted its last Red Bull Wololo tournament in 2022, when the organisers decided to host three separate events for AoE II, AoE I, and AoE IV. The three events hosted in 2022, named Red Bull Wololo: Legacy, were also the biggest and most lucrative to date, offering a $200,000, $50,000, and $300,000 prize pool for AoE II, AoE I, and AoE IV events, respectively.

When is The Next Red Bull Wololo?

Red Bull Wololo started as a small-scale Age of Empires esports event, but it quickly caught on and reached new heights in 2022, with one of the largest viewership numbers to date, indicating that the series has massive support from the AoE community.

Hosted in Germany, at Heidelberg Castle, Red Bull Wololo: Legacy 2022 Age of Empires I peaked at 113,650 viewers, Red Bull Wololo: Legacy 2022 Age of Empires II peaked at 76,699, and Red Bull Wololo: Legacy 2022 Age of Empires IV peaked at 41.866, with well over 2.3 million combined watch hours.

Given the event’s popularity, it’s only fair to expect and start questioning when the next Red Bull Wololo will be and whether Red Bull ever plans to host another event.

Unfortunately, we have no information about Red Bull’s plans, as Red Bull Gaming has yet to make an official statement on whether it intends to bring back the hugely popular series. And considering we’re well past the usual date of Red Bull Wololo tournaments – which have been typically hosted in August-October, it seems likely that Red Bull Wololo won’t be hosted this year and won’t return until at least 2024.
